This is my new website bringing you Nutritional advice and lots of recipes!
I am going to be posting a variety of recipes with lots of healthy tips using a variety of ingredients, most of my recipes will be dairy, gluten and sugar free, as more and more people have issues with these 3 but I promise only to post the recipe if I think it is good enough, to me taste is everything.
Don’t be alarmed if some of the ingredients seem a little alien, they can all be purchased from a health food shop and once you get them they tend to last and can be re used in lots of my recipes. It is also a great way to introduce you to fantastic new ingredients and show you how they can be used. In my recipe section I have a list of my favourite ingredients.
To start you off here are my 2 favourite breakfast smoothies!
Blueberry Coconut Shake
This delicious creamy blueberry smoothie is the perfect breakfast, packed full of protein, good fats and antioxidants it will really set you up for the day. Including a bit of protein in your breakfast is always a good idea as it helps to balance blood sugars and gives you a boost of energy to last you till lunch. Flaxseeds are excellent as they are one of the few vegetarian foods that are very high in Omega 3, as well as being the single best food source of Lignans. Lignans are phytoestrogens so act as hormone balancers, they also have fibre-like benefits so help to keep things regular!
This smoothie tastes so good and has such a rich gorgeous purple colour, garnish with seeds and a couple of berries for an indulgent yet seriously healthy breakfast!
INGREDIENTS
Serves 1
3 tbsp of organic blueberries (frozen is best)
3 tbsp designated coconut
1tbsp ground flaxseed
1 tbsp Cashew or Almond butter
½ small Banana*
200ml Almond milk (coconut or oat can also be used)
*If you are someone who has a high stress job, is tired in the morning and more awake at night I would omit the banana as the high potassium & sugar combination of a banana is not good for people in need of adrenal support.
METHOD
Add all the ingredients to a powerful blender and blend until smooth add a bit more milk if necessary to achieve the desired consistency.
Avocado Chocolate Milkshake
This is my all time favourite breakfast shake I am having it daily at the moment and I get excited about getting out of bed and making it as it is so yummy…. although my portion seems to get larger everyday which I am sure is not so good!
It is packed full of protein and good fats and the coconut water is great way of restoring electrolytes.
It contains lots of Cacao powder, which gives it a lovely chocolately taste but without any of the sugar, it is high in Magnesium, Iron & fibre as well as antioxidants, plus it works on the neurotransmitters improving mood so it is basically every girls dream ingredient!
I know you don’t automatically associate avocado with smoothies but you will be amazed at what a wonderful addition it is and it tastes much naughtier than it is. Avocados are great source of ‘good’ fat Omega 9, Potassium & Vitamin E. They also contain lots of fibre and a considerable amount of protein, so that combined with the cashew butter make it a great choice for breakfast. Its very creamy and delicious but so healthy and the perfect start to the day. It is also very gentle on the digestive system so has a good cleansing effect.

½ Avocado
1 dsp cashew butter (or whatever nut butter you have except peanut)
125ml Coconut water
125ml Almond Milk (Oat/coconut is ok too)

1tbsp Ground flaxseed
1 tsp Coconut sugar (during winter manuka honey works brilliantly 1dsp)
